Action and moving image. Yesterday and today I am mainly starting to relate the action of sound making to something that can be shown in the space rather than being performed. Like with looping- I would like the whole room and CAC to be looped. With some things that have happened and some things that are happening. I won’t post everything as it will take away from viewing and experiencing and listening on the night of the 8th.

Yan Xing said he doesn’t care about song in his work as such as he doesn’t focus on the material of his pieces. Last night I made a piece called ‘To Sing a Song’ and today I did a live work with a singing bowl. Why do I care about singing? Or why do I not- not care- about singing. For me singing isn’t just about singing- it holds a vulnerability - an opening up- it directly holds ideas related to risk.

The Joins (Detail) exhibited as part of Through- an exhibition of process art at Neo:Gallery, Bolton. Mid view event coinciding with Neo Open Studios this Saturday 4-6pm. I will carry out a live element to accompany the work bringing together sculptural, physical and performative relationships with improvisation.

News from The Penthouse!

We are very pleased to announce that The Penthouse have been successful in our proposal to Arts Council England for funding for ’From the Rooftops’. From the Rooftops is a series of artist residencies and related open studios/shows/events as well as a pair of live art events and a group show. This will also involve a revamp on how we communicate activity, including a new website and an experiment into communicating ‘hands dirty’ art via all the senses. Details and call for artists to follow so keep an eye out for updates via our facebook, twitter and tumblr. A big thanks to ACE for supporting this artist led activity. We can’t wait to get stuck in!
